My dear Alice,
Your postal has just reached me this minute and I cannot tell you how glad I am to hear from you and to know that you have not forgotten me. You, no doubt, will think that I purposely "stood you up" last night, but I swear I couldn't help it or else I surely would have been there. Your postal which you sent Monday afternoon did not arrive here until this morning, so you see I didn't know anything about the date. I hope, dear, you will forgive me as it was really not my fault. Last Friday when I left your Mother's and on my way to Stamford, I ran into a motorcycle cop. I immediately took him to the hospital and saw that he was made comfortable.
If it is covenient for you, I will see you at your Mother's Friday Sept 30th or Sat Oct 1st. However, don't forget to ring me up and tell me which night. Well, dearest, I must close and go down to mail this to you. Much love,
LEONARD.
P.S. I know you are taking good care of my ring and pin. I am glad you have them no matter how much I miss them.
