Clift Hotel, San Francisco, Tuesday, June 6th, 1922.
My own darling girl. This morning after I had gotten back from my walk through Golden Gate Park. I found two more of your cheery lettes, dated June 1st. waiting for me under the door. Do you know dear that I have received five of your sweet notes in the last two days. It is hard to believe and almost seems to good to be true, but I have them all before me on the desk and looking them over while I am writing to you. It makes me feel so happy, darling, when I hear from you and especially when you write about how you used to . . . Do you ever long for my lips? yes love. my warm, lips and . . . You said you liked my ways, didn't you dear? Do you remember, honeybunch, how. . .
Well, Alice, darling, maybe when you have read these things you will feel blue or maybe they will make you feel hapy. I don't know which. But loved one you asked me to write an interesting letter like you sent me, so I have tried my best. Have I tempted you sweetheart and have I . . .
Listen Alice when you get this letter dont write to me at the Hotel Clift any more because my pal and I will be starting in a day or two to the Yosemite Valley. I hate to ask you not write here any more because Lord only knows when I am going to get another of your letters. However, dear, I got along for three weeks without hearing from you and I will get along this time because I have faith in you, dear, and will always trust you.
Your loving boy. LEN.
